Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 rack back pork ribs
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
  • 2 tsp hickory liquid smoke
  • More Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce for serving
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Carefully lift an edge in the middle of the ribs and peel off the silver skin in one piece.
  2. Cut the rack of ribs into 4 equal sections.
  3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, onion powder, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub this spice mix all over the ribs.
  4. Place the rubbed ribs in the slow cooker. Pour in the water and hickory liquid smoke around the ribs. Pour the BBQ sauce over the ribs.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 420-480 minutes (7-8 hours), or on high for 240 minutes (4 hours) until tender.
  6. Optional: Brush ribs with warmed BBQ sauce before serving.

Notes

Make sure to remove the silver skin for best texture. Adjust the spice rub to your taste. For crispy ribs, broil after cooking.
