A hearty, delicious twist on pizza that’s low in carbs but high in flavor, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 1 medium Chopped Onion
  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 24 ounces Marinara Sauce (sugar-free)
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 cup Chopped Bell Peppers
  • 1 cup Sliced Mushrooms
  • 4 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Black Olives
  • 1 cup Pepperoni Slices

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, stirring frequently until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Mix in the Vegetables: Stir in the chopped bell peppers and sliced mushrooms, cooking until they begin to soften, around 5 minutes.
  4. Integrate the Sauce and Seasonings: Pour in the marinara sauce and sprinkle in the Italian seasoning. Stir well to combine all the ingredients and let it simmer for about 5 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  5. Layer the Casserole: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a baking dish, spread half of the meat mixture evenly at the bottom, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining meat mixture and cheese.
  6. Add the Toppings: If you’re using black olives and pepperoni, sprinkle them generously on top of the final cheese layer.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Once baked, let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes to set. This will help with cutting and serving.
