A classic peach cobbler recipe that transforms fresh, ripe peaches into a soul-soothing dessert with a spiced, cake-like topping.

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour into a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
  4. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter over the peach mixture in the baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For best results, use ripe but firm peaches. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
