Simple and comforting roasted beef sandwiches cooked in a slow cooker, perfect for busy days or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lb. bottom round beef roast (chuck roast can be used as an alternative)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • 1.74 oz. brown gravy mix packets (two 0.87 oz. packets)
  • 1½ cups water
  • White or sourdough bread, for serving
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the beef roast into a 4-quart or larger slow cooker, ensuring it fits comfortably.
  2. Lightly sprinkle salt, pepper, and onion powder evenly over the beef roast for balanced seasoning.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the two brown gravy mix packets and water until smooth. Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the roast in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours until the beef is tender and infused with flavors.
  5. Once cooked, carefully remove the beef roast and shred it with two forks, discarding excess fat.
  6. Ladle out excess grease from the gravy if desired, leaving the flavorful gravy behind.
  7. Spoon shredded beef onto slices of bread and ladle hot gravy over it. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder, using beef broth instead of water, or mixing in sautéed onions or peppers. For a spicier kick, add hot sauce to the gravy mix.
