A simple yet delightful recipe for making homemade pizza dough with a chewy texture and crispy edges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt; stir well to combine.
  3. Mix wet and dry ingredients: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough: Once risen, punch down the dough gently to release the air and roll it out to your desired thickness.
  7. Preheat & prepare for baking: Preheat the oven and get ready to bake your pizza with your favorite toppings!

Notes

If you have leftover dough, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Make sure to bring it to room temperature before using.
