Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully mixed into a dough.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  8. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the dough layer.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel layer.
  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool the bars completely, then sprinkle with sea salt before slicing.
  12. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Pair with vanilla ice cream or drizzled chocolate ganache for an indulgent treat.
