A cozy and comforting dish of tender chicken paired with fluffy dumplings in a rich broth, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the chicken, chicken broth, chopped onion, sliced carrots, and celery in a large pot. Bring to a boil and let simmer until chicken is cooked through.
  2. Create the dumpling dough by whisking together the flour, baking powder, salt, and thyme; gradually stir in milk and melted butter.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering soup, cover the pot, and cook for about 15 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then ladle into bowls and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently over low heat.
