  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whip the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Incorporate sugar gradually, one tablespoon at a time, while beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder.
  6. Add in chocolate chips gently if using.
  7. Shape the cookies by dropping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  8. Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the cookies are dry.
  9. Cool the cookies inside the oven after turning it off.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
