Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • Blue food coloring
  • Cookie crumbles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle.
  7. Sprinkle with cinnamon and additional sugar, if desired.
  8. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  9. Allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  11. Mix icing ingredients together while rolls bake.
  12. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and top with cookie crumbles.

Notes

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for a month.
