A rich and creamy vegan cheese sauce that brings a burst of flavor to any dish, made with cashews and nutritional yeast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw cashews (soaked in water for at least 4 hours)
  • 1/2 cup fresh water
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • A pinch turmeric (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak the cashews in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the cashews under cool running water.
  3. Blend the soaked cashews with fresh water, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and turmeric until smooth.
  4. Achieve a creamy texture, adding more water as needed.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as desired.
  6. Serve the sauce warm or chilled, and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Add water when reheating if it’s thickened.
