Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into the beaten eggs and coat with the cornstarch mixture. Set aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and fully cooked, about 4-5 minutes for each batch.
  5. Make the zesty sauce: In a saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Simmer until thickened.
  6. Combine the fried chicken with the zesty sauce until well-coated.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the pan when frying. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
