Soy sauce eggs are a quick and flavorful snack, marinated to perfection in a blend of soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar, ideal for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs by filling a pot with water and bringing it to a brisk boil. Gently lower the eggs into the pot using a slotted spoon and boil for 6-7 minutes.
  2. Transfer the boiled eggs to a bowl with ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the soy sauce, water, sesame oil, and sugar in a bowl until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Peel the cooled eggs, being careful with the delicate whites.
  5. Place the peeled eggs in a container and pour the soy sauce mixture over them, ensuring they are submerged. Marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days to let the flavors intensify.
