A comforting and flavorful takeout-style dish featuring crispy chicken coated in a sweet and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season and dredge the chicken in a bowl with salt and pepper and cornstarch until well-coated.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat and fry the chicken until golden and crispy.
  3. Add minced garlic and ginger to the same pan and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Mix together soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a separate bowl, then pour into the pan and cook until it thickens.
  5. Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For extra crunch, ensure the chicken is patted dry before dredging. Maintain oil temperature to achieve crispiness.
