A classic recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu, featuring tender chicken, savory ham, and melted Swiss cheese, perfectly baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 8 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound to about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  4. Lay two slices of ham and one slice of cheese on each chicken breast.
  5. Roll the chicken tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  6. Dredge each roll in flour, ensuring all sides are coated evenly.
  7. Dip the floured rolls in beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off.
  8. Coat each roll with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help them stick.
  9. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the chicken rolls until golden brown on all sides.
  10. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  11. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

Serve with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables. Great with a glass of white wine.
