A comforting and delicious homemade lasagna filled with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and bubbling mozzarella.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce with the browned beef and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Place 4 noodles over the meat sauce, then spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture and 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese on top. Repeat the layers.
  8. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, use roasted vegetables in place of ground beef.
