A cooling, creamy, and refreshing condiment perfect for grilled meats and pita bread, inspired by the flavors of Greece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh dill or mint, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, and vinegar or lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix gently until well combined.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Stir in the chopped dill or mint, if desired.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve with grilled meats or as a dip with pita bread.

Notes

For best flavor, refrigerate the sauce to allow ingredients to mingle. Squeeze out excess moisture from the cucumber to avoid a watery sauce.
