A comforting blend of your favorite pizza flavors wrapped in delicious pasta and topped with gooey melted cheese, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb rigatoni or penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 1/2 ounce pepperoni, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 jars (14 ounce each) pizza sauce
  • 16 ounce shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Slow Cooker: Spray the interior of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Cook the Pasta: Cook the pasta according to package directions but stop 1-2 minutes before it reaches al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the Meats: In a skillet, combine ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them into crumbles as they brown.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables: Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the Flavors: Toss in the chopped pepperoni and minced garlic, sautéing for an additional 5 minutes before draining excess grease.
  6. Combine the Mixtures: Transfer the meat mixture to a bowl, stir in pizza sauce and Italian seasoning, then add the partially cooked pasta and toss.
  7. Layer in the Slow Cooker: Layer half of the pasta mixture in the slow cooker, then top with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the Layers: Repeat with the remaining pasta mixture and cheese, finishing with mozzarella on top.
  9. Slow Cook to Perfection: Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
  10. Serve and Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

If short on time, prepare the meat mixture a day in advance. Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version or customize with preferred pizza toppings.
