  • 1 pound chuck roast
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the chuck roast on all sides in a pot, then remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Return the browned chuck roast to the pot and let it simmer for 1.5 hours.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  7. Once the chuck roast is tender, shred the meat and return it to the sauce.
  8. In a baking dish, mix the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and top with shredded cheese.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
