  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups M&M candies
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whip the butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients by whisking together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Merge the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the M&M candies and chopped nuts, if using.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are golden.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
