A creamy and smooth nacho cheese sauce that transforms tortilla chips into a flavorful feast.

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it turns a light golden brown.
  2. Create a roux by sprinkling in the flour and whisking until smooth, cooking for about 1 minute.
  3. Whisk in the milk gradually, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, around 2-3 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the cream cheese by stirring until it melts and combines fully.
  5. Add the shredded cheddar cheese slowly, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  6. Spice it up by stirring in the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve warm over nachos or as a dip for pretzels, tacos, or fries.

Notes

Leftover nacho cheese sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of milk if needed.
