A comforting dessert that combines day-old bread with a rich custard, topped with a luscious bourbon sauce.

  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup bourbon (for sauce)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for sauce)
  • 1/2 cup butter (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Combine in a large bowl the cubed bread, milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well and fold in the raisins if desired.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, ensuring even distribution.
  4. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  5. Prepare the bourbon sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan, then stirring in the powdered sugar and bourbon until smooth.
  6. Serve the warm bread pudding drizzled with the bourbon sauce.

Notes
