  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice (optional for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the optional glaze, mix the powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth and drizzle over the cooled cake.

Notes

Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor and store-bought juice won’t compare.
