  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup diced vegetables (like bell peppers, onions, or spinach)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: cooked bacon or sausage

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Layer the bread cubes evenly across the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  3. Sprinkle the diced vegetables over the bread, adding optional cooked bacon or sausage if desired.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the layers, ensuring that all the bread is soaked.
  5. Top with shredded cheese.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) in the morning.
  8. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
