Instructions

  1. Combine the cornmeal, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add water gradually until reaching your desired consistency.
  3. Preheat the skillet with vegetable oil or ghee over medium heat.
  4. Fry spoonfuls of batter for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip each hoecake and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain on a paper towel and serve warm with butter and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

Notes
