A delightful homemade treat combining rich peanut butter, chocolate chips, and festive M&M’s, perfect for sharing on Valentine’s Day.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled (1 stick, 113 g)
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 3/4 to 1 cup Valentine-colored M&M’s
  • 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips for drizzle
  • 1 teaspoon neutral oil for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan by lightly greasing a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and lining with parchment paper.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Combine the melted butter and peanut butter in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
  4. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, whisking until glossy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly.
  6. Whisk in the vanilla extract.
  7. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  8. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, folding until just blended.
  9. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  10. Press the dough into the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
  11. Add half to two-thirds of the M&M’s on top and sprinkle with Valentine sprinkles.
  12. Bake for 18 to 24 minutes, until lightly golden.
  13. Add the remaining M&M’s right after baking.
  14. Cool the bars completely in the pan.
  15. Drizzle with melted white chocolate, if desired.
  16. Slice into squares or rectangles before serving.

Notes

These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or in the fridge for up to 1 week.
