Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Warm Water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 4 cups Bread Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • Cornmeal (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until bubbly.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Pour the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients, and mix to form a dough.
  4. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Shape the dough into loaves and place on a baking sheet lightly dusted with cornmeal.
  7. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and sprinkle cheese on top of the loaves.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding.
  10. Cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
